Chiesa di S.Giovanni

073 s giovanni

Although misused as a garden storage and partly modified with new openings, the little church is one of the oldest religious building of the entire Belluno’s province. The external structure, practically still preserved with its blind pilasters and arches , is clearly early medieval. A fragment of a marble pluteus is now used as a window but still testifies to the presence of a pre-existing early Christian church, probably dating from an age preceding the Lombard invasion of 568.
