Un nucleo seicentesco appartenuto alla famiglia Pagani venne ridisegnato ed ampliato nel 1789. Dopo i gravi danni subiti nell’invasione del 1917/8 ebbe una radicale ristrutturazione ad opera del nuovo proprietario, il sen. Achille Gaggia. Il giardino fu disegnato all’inizio del XIX secolo da Alexandre Poiteau le Terrier, architetto giardiniere di Versailles e poi di Fontainebleau ed ebbe successivi inserti romantici.
Tra le due guerre vi furono ospiti il vice primo ministro inglese sir Anthony Eden e re Fuad d’Egitto. Il 19 luglio del 1943 vi ebbe luogo l’incontro fra Mussolini e Hitler.

XVI century residence of the Pagani family, it was redesigned and enlarged in 1789. After the damages suffered in the Austrian occupation during World War I it was radically reconstructed by the new owner, senator Achille Gaggia. The garden was designed at the beginning of XIX century by Alexandre Poiteau le Terrier, the architect and gardener of Versailles and Fontainebleau, and later some romantic elements have been added. Between the two wars the English politician Sir Anthony Eden and King Fahad of Egypt both stayed here. In July 1943 it hosted the last meeting between Hitler and Mussolini.
